| What records
would be broken at Swan Green you may ask yourselves after the last two
record breaking games. Well Swan Green elected to bat on a glorious
sunny afternoon near Lyndhurst. Their two opening batsmen looked very
confident until Paul Rendell bowled one of them with a perfect Yorker.
Jamie quickly followed at the other end with a wicket and the both of
them deserved better after a fine spell of opening bowling. Oh I forgot
to say, Jamie would have done if it were not for Lawrence's dropped
catch. The outfield was quite tricky as well and at one time a certain
single to Nick ended up with the batsmen getting two as the ball got
deflected by a"cow pat". At 88-4 it looked like Swan Green may
post a good score but tight bowling from Paul Harding and Nick who both
got 2 wickets each was superbly backed up by Sean Damen who steamrolled
their tail enders with 4 wickets for just 11 runs. Oh I forgot to
say Sean may have got 5 if it were not for Lawrence's dropped catch. But
well done Rendy for that brilliant one handed catch. So no records set
in the fielding and with a score of only 132 to get last weeks highest
partnership would be safe for another week. Matty and Geoff opened the
batting and I think Geoff wanted to get the game over with quickly
with his wide range of shots so early on, maybe connecting with the ball
would help Geoff !!. We lost our first wicket at 21 with Geoff out for
12. Matty and Lawrence then put on 103 for the second wicket with an
awesome display of hard hitting before Lawrence unluckily getting
run-out for 36 with the score on 124 ( Lawrence I wont tell you Paul
Harding thought it was hilarious). Nick went into bat and 3 balls later
the game was over as Mat punched 3 successive 4's to end up on 75 no and
a win for The Pilgrims. So, no records this week and no new ties for
Dave to bye, but Lawrence did drop 2 catches and Geoff had his mad
15 minutes.
