Rendy lost the toss yet again at a hot and humid Swann Green and we were
fielding first. Wickets fell quite regulary with the first going to Rendy
in his 500th game for the Pilgrims. Paul Harding then got a
couple, with Jocky taking 4-24 and the ever improving Sean Damen 2-8. I
suppose we must mention the cracking slip catch by Lawrence of Paul
Harding's bowling and the dolly caught and bowled chance missed by guess
who!!!!! yes Lawrence.Oh yes, and one minor detail and that was of a
certain Tim Beck
driving down from Sussex to play his first game for the
Pilgrims since 1985. Anyway it was our turn to bat chasing 151 runs. Geoff
started as if he wanted to get somewhere quickly with 3 four's in the
first over but soon went for 15. New opener for the day Gary Ings also
found boudaries easy to come by in his 25. Steve Damen is improving with
his batting and found the boudary with two powerful shots for his 10. Paul
Harding showed class in his 56 no supported well by a promoted Jocky 15.
Unfortunately Tim holed out to square leg which left Lawrence with the
task of hitting the winning runs. Another fun day and it was good to see
our supporters Ted & Harold and Keith and Jean at the games and
especially to see al Damen and Louise with the girls this week after all
that has happened in the last year. Finally on a leser note, over the past
few games it seems that each week we end up with one or two players short
by the saturday night, and Rendy has to try and find other players at such
short notice. This is hard but luckily we have managed to get by so far
but if you do find that you can not play after being picked then let Rendy
know straight away instead of leaving it until Saturday when you see him.
