Result Pilgrims lost by 6 wickets

After a 13 year break it was great to see an "Old Pilgrim" Stuart O'Donnell back playing for us in a guest appearance against Godshill. Not sure who won the toss but we batted first and dissapointingly only had ten men due to a late cancellation on Saturday.Only Paul H 44, Nick B 32, G.Ings 19 (Paul & Gary 50 partnership)and Steve damen 14 made double figures in a total of 133 all out. But two unfortunate dismisals to Stuart who top edged a short ball off the bottom of the bat only to see it drop down in front of him and spin back onto the leg stump and Lee Hopkins who also was bowled by a ball that hit nearly evry part of his body before trickling back onto his stumps were the highlights of our innings. We took to the field and they took to Rendy's first over going for 3 four's. Lee on the other hand bowled 4 straight maidens and after 12 overs Godshill were 16-2. We never really took advantage mainly because of the persistant drizzle for most of Godshill's innings. But it was great to see Stuart back in action with the ball completley confusing their Hants prem player by clean bowling him and ending with figures of 1-21 from 7.1 overs. Godshill won the game with 9 overs to spare. Again great to see you Stuart and don't wait another 13 years before you don the pilgrims colours. Ohh and Happy 60th to Mr Pilgrim, Dave Sandham for this thursday from all at the club.
