The day started with a schedule stop at the house of formation Flyer Jamie Gawler to help celebrate his 21st birthday. After a few drinks amd plent of lovely food it was time to go still not being able to convince Jamie that, just cause he was 21, was not a good excuse to miss a game of cricket. Hope you had a great day mate. Rendy won the toss and for one of the first time's as skipper on winning the toss asked Cadnam to bat first. We took to the field with a new keeper in Graham Corbin who for the first few overs he stopped everything with his body instead of his gloves. Rendy and Chris Rawlings opened the bowling and after 10 overs cadnam were 42 -0. Once Rendy had bowled one of their openers wickets steadily fell and with some good fielding and another change of wicketkeeper we bowled Cadnam out for 96. Jocky Wilson getting 3-31, Nick and Paul H both 2-13 and Chris R with 3 Catches and 1 Stumping. After a Quality tea we went out to bat and were soon 28-3 with Nick,Sean and Louis all out. This brought together Rendy and Paul H at the crease and a partnership of 65 got the score to 93 before Rendy was caught in the deep for 38 going for the big winner. With only 4 runs needed chris R came to the crease and first ball launched the ball nearly into the car park and so winning the game. Thanks to Louis,Lee and Harry R who all stepped in at the last minute,to Graham for all the bruising he sustained and to the support from Andy,Dawn and Frankie Fitzjohn with friends and Keith and Jean Read,Ted Harold and Carol and and I nearly forgot Clive and Bev who got there with a few overs left. Another fine win, next game Langley Manor in two weeks. |
