Result Win for pilgrims by 5 wickets Check out 2006 Averages

On another hot sunny day our skipper Rendy lost the toss again and we were put in the field by Ashurst. With our lack of opening bowlers Rendy and Graham Corbin opened the bowling. For Graham it was the first bowl for years but what an impact he made. If it were not Graham sustaining a hamstring injury in his 5th over we may have all been home by teatime such was his ferocious opening spell 4-19, 16 of them streaky 4's through gully. Paul H took over and had no luck from 6 overs with Ashurst only taking 19 runs from him too. After Rendy had bowled his 8 overs for just 24 runs there was only Jocky of the recognized bowlers left with still 20 overs to bowl. But we did not need to worry. Up stepped young Martin Forward who had not bowled in a competitive match before and ended up with 3-15 off 6 overs and with the ever ready Jocky 3-36 ended Ashurst innings on 118. Special mention to Grahams lad who fielded brilliant  for us after Rendy had thought we had 2 Paul Hardings in the side before the game started. After tea it was Pilgrims turn to bat and with all batsmen troubling the scorer it was left to Dave Sandham to hit the winning run for the loss of only 5 wickets. Matt 42, Paul H 25no and Nick 24. Another great win on a very hot day.
